KUWAIT, July 1 (KUNA) — In a thrilling Round 16 match at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 held in the United States until July 14, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal defeated English giants Manchester City with a final score of 4-3. The match took place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
Manchester City opened the scoring in the ninth minute through Bernardo Sliva. However, Al-Hilal responded strongly, equalizing in the 46th minute via Marcos Leonardo.
After halftime, Al-Hilal took the lead in the 52nd minute with a goal from Malcom. The lead was short-lived as Erling Haaland equalized for Manchester City in the 55th minute.
In the dying moments of regular time, Al-Hilal’s Kalidou Koulibaly scored in the 94th minute, only for Phil Foden to bring Manchester City level again in the 104th minute.
The decisive moment came in the 112th minute when Marcos Leonardo struck again, securing Al-Hilal’s place in the quarterfinals.
Al-Hilal will now face Brazil’s Fluminense on July 4, while fellow Brazilian side Palmeiras will meet English club Chelsea on July 5. On the same day, French giants PSG will take on Germany’s Bayern Munich.
