Kuwait’s CAN launches 2025 Summer Haido – CAN Olympics

KUWAIT, July 5 (KUNA) — The Cancer Aware Nation (CAN) has initiated the first events of the 2025 Summer Haido – CAN Olympics in collaboration with the Public Authority for Sports, operating under the theme “Sports is Prevention.”

Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, Chairman of CAN, stated in a press release on Saturday that the Olympics, which will span a month and a half, will feature multiple tournaments, competitions, and diverse sporting activities aimed at various age groups. The event will see the participation of 16 teams and over 120 players.

Al-Saleh highlighted the significance of sports in boosting human immunity, noting that regular physical activity can lower the risk of numerous types of cancer.

Abdullah Khaled, Director of Haido Academy, expressed his hope that the Olympics would serve as a distinguished sports and health platform for youth and society, connecting physical activity with the prevention of chronic diseases, particularly cancer.

He pointed out that the events are being conducted through a strategic partnership between CAN and Haido Academy, in coordination with the Public Authority for Sports.

The program will feature competitions in various sports, including football, volleyball, bowling, an athletics challenge, a tug-of-war competition, and an American penalty shootout, he explained.

Additionally, these events will incorporate awareness and health workshops along with community initiatives, he added.

The first activity was the padel tournament, which saw the involvement of several sports teams.
