Kuwait’s CITRA Finalizes Deal for Advanced Spectrum Monitoring System

KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) — The Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has signed an agreement with Future Integrated Technologies for Communications Equipment Company to deploy the Automated Spectrum Monitoring and Analysis System, marking a major step in modernizing Kuwait’s national spectrum oversight framework. This nationwide initiative aims to strengthen the regulation and efficient use of radio frequencies across the country.

In a statement, CITRA emphasized its dedication to maintaining strict oversight of all radio spectrum bands, leveraging advanced tools to detect and locate unauthorized transmissions with high accuracy, as well as pinpoint sources of harmful interference. The initiative aligns with global standards and international regulatory guidelines to ensure optimal allocation and use of spectrum resources.

Key goals of the project include improving telecommunications service quality through routine on-site measurements and sophisticated data analysis, as well as enabling real-time surveillance of spectrum activity to allow rapid responses to regulatory breaches. The system will support stronger enforcement of licensing terms and promote long-term sustainability of wireless resources.

The rollout will feature the creation of a centralized monitoring hub, complemented by fixed and mobile monitoring units, portable detection devices, and network performance evaluation tools. Coverage will extend across all populated regions and border zones, ensuring nationwide reach and operational effectiveness.

This advancement is expected to significantly boost CITRA’s ability to supervise network performance and minimize service disruptions caused by interference or illegal spectrum usage, delivering benefits to both telecom operators and consumers.

CITRA reiterated its ongoing efforts to enhance Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and foster a robust, compliant telecommunications ecosystem in line with national development plans and top-tier international benchmarks.
