Sohag Governor Abdel Fattah Sraj chaired today the meeting of the governorate’s socioeconomic council, attended by Ahmed Al-Sayyid, the governorate’s secretary-general, Dr. Mohamed Helmy, assistant secretary-general, Dr. Ahmed Aziz, the governor’s scientific advisor, council members, representatives from economic clusters, civil society, investors’ associations, industrial zone managers, local unit heads, and ministry deputies.
The session reviewed progress on implementing prior council recommendations. Notably, the artisanal center in Bani Waseel, Saqiltah, was publicly auctioned and awarded to a private company for EGP 1.167 million over seven years. Additionally, a 1,500-square-meter plot in Al-Kawthar residential area has been included in a cooperation protocol with the National Bank of Egypt for residential development projects expected to generate revenue for the governorate.
On industrial and investment initiatives, four electrical kiosks have been delivered to the Al-Ahaywa industrial zone, with EGP 11.176 million paid to the Industrial Development Authority for installation and operation costs. These will serve ten currently idle factories. Work is ongoing to install 16 additional kiosks to support zone expansion. A 4.3-fadden site in Al-Kawthar has been allocated for a feed mill under the Upper Egypt Development Authority, alongside a wooden pellet factory aimed at exporting biomass heating products as an alternative to fossil fuels. Furthermore, 15 faddens in Dar Al-Salam have been surveyed for a tomato and vegetable drying plant, and 30 faddens reserved for a sugarcane nursery factory, with preliminary utility connection estimates underway.
The governor’s scientific advisor highlighted that the Jehena urban market project was leased for an annual value of EGP 1.053 million, with a 10% annual increase over nine years. A public tender for the Western Corniche tourism marina is scheduled for September 17. Ten new projects will be launched this month, with bidding documents being prepared. Seven additional projects are being processed through a bank partnership agreement in its initial phase, while 19 others await Cabinet approval for tendering.
The governor emphasized accelerating project launches to benefit citizens and boost local revenues. He stressed continuous monitoring to ensure security, cleanliness, and full infrastructure in industrial zones. He also directed facilitation measures for applicants to the upcoming tender of 48 commercial shops along the Western Corniche, with the Investment Administration managing the process and the Chamber of Commerce determining suitable operational activities.
In closing, the governor underscored the importance of creating new job opportunities, improving residents’ income, and achieving balanced and sustainable development across all districts. He called for intensified efforts to strengthen the local economy and establish an attractive investment environment capable of accommodating diverse agricultural and industrial activities.

ترأس عبد الفتاح سراج محافظ سوهاج، اليوم، اجتماع المجلس الاقتصادي الاجتماعي بالمحافظة، بحضور أحمد السايس السكرتير العام للمحافظة، والدكتور محمد حلمي السكرتير العام المساعد، والدكتور أحمد عزيز المستشار العلمي للمحافظة، وأعضاء المجلس، وممثلي التكتلات الاقتصادية، والمجتمع المدني، ورؤساء جمعيات المستثمرين ومديري المناطق الصناعية، وعدد من رؤساء الوحدات المحلية، ووكلاء الوزارات. n nموضوعات مقترحة n nواستعرض الاجتماع موقف تنفيذ توصيات المجلس السابق، حيث تم طرح المركز الحرفي ببني واصل بساقلتة بالمزايدة العلنية وترسيته على إحدى الشركات مقابل 1.167 مليون جنيه لمدة 7 سنوات، كما تم إدراج موقع أرض عمارات الإيواء بحي الكوثر بمساحة 1500 متر مربع ضمن بروتوكول التعاون مع البنك الأهلي لاستغلالها في مشروعات سكنية تدر عائداً على المحافظة. n nإنشاء مصانع جديدة n nوفيما يخص المشروعات الصناعية والاستثمارية، تم وصول 4 أكشاك كهرباء للمنطقة الصناعية بالأحايوة، مع دفع 11.176 مليون جنيه لمقايسة التركيب والتشغيل عن طريق هيئة التنمية الصناعية، ليستفيد منها 10 مصانع متوقفة بالفعل، وجاري العمل على تركيب 16 كشك كهرباء أخرى لتوسعات المنطقة، وتم توفير مساحة 4.3 فدان بحي الكوثر لإنشاء مصنع للأعلاف عليها بمعرفة هيئة تنمية الصعيد، بالإضافة إلى مصنع للمصبعات الخشبية للتصدير للخارج للاستخدام في التدقاء بدلا من الوقود الأحفوري، كما تم معاينة 15 فداناً بدار السلام لإقامة مصنع لتجفيف الطماطم والخضروات، و30 فداناً لإنشاء مصنع شتلات قصب السكر، مع إعداد مقايسة تقديرية لتوصيل المرافق اللازمة. n nطرح 10 مشروعات n nوأشار المستشار العلمي للمحافظة، إلى أنه تمت ترسية مشروع سوق جهينة الحضري بقيمة إيجارية سنوية بلغت مليوناً و53 ألف جنيه مع زيادة سنوية 10% لمدة 9 سنوات، فيما ستجرى المزايدة العلنية لمشروع المرسى السياحي بالكورنيش الغربي يوم 17 سبتمبر الجاري، كما يجري تجهيز كراسات الشروط لطرح 10 مشروعات جديدة خلال الشهر، فضلاً عن التعامل على 7 مشروعات أخرى من خلال بروتوكول التعاون مع أحد البنوك كمرحلة أولى، و19 مشروعاً بانتظار موافقة مجلس الوزراء لطرحها. n nطرح 48 محلاً تجارياً بالكورنيش الغربي n nوشدد المحافظ، على سرعة إجراءات طرح المشروعات بما يخدم المواطنين ويعظم موارد المحافظة، مؤكدًا ضرورة المتابعة المستمرة لتوفير الخدمات بالمناطق الصناعية من أمن ونظافة واستكمال المرافق، ووجه بالتيسير على المتقدمين للطرح القادم لعدد 48 محلاً تجارياً بالكورنيش الغربي، على أن تتولى إدارة الاستثمار بالديوان أعمال الطرح، فيما تختص الغرفة التجارية باختيار الأنشطة اللازمة للتشغيل. n nتوفير بيئة استثمارية n nوأكد محافظ سوهاج، في ختام الاجتماع، أهمية خلق فرص عمل جديدة ورفع مستوى دخل المواطن السوهاجي، وتحقيق التنمية المتوازنة والمستدامة بمختلف مراكز المحافظة، مشدداً على ضرورة بذل المزيد من الجهد خلال الفترة المقبلة لتعزيز الاقتصاد المحلي، وتوفير بيئة استثمارية جاذبة قادرة على استيعاب مختلف الأنشطة الصناعية والزراعية.
