Morocco and India have discussed ways to enhance their bilateral trade and economic cooperation during official talks held on Thursday in New Delhi, coinciding with the launch of the World Food Expo 2025, which has drawn participation from over 90 countries.
The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Trade reported that the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hajira, held discussions with India’s Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Sharad Pawar, focusing on expanding Moroccan exports into the Indian market and identifying new areas for mutual economic engagement.
Both nations agreed to form a joint working group tasked with organizing a major business forum scheduled for early 2026 in Casablanca. The event will bring together representatives from industry, agriculture, and services sectors from both countries, aiming to diversify Morocco’s export portfolio and promote investment and collaborative ventures between Moroccan and Indian enterprises.
Bilateral trade between Morocco and India has grown significantly in recent years, surpassing 4 billion dollars annually. Rabat is actively working to broaden its export offerings to India beyond phosphate derivatives, seeking a more balanced and varied trade relationship.
Official data also reveals an increase in Indian corporate presence in Morocco, with the number of Indian companies operating in the country rising from 13 in 2015 to 47 today, reflecting growing Indian economic interest in the Moroccan market.
