The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has discussed ways to strengthen economic collaboration and expand investment partnerships between the business communities of Sharjah and Belarus. This followed a high-level diplomatic delegation visit from the Republic of Belarus, during which both sides explored opportunities for broadening cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism sectors to mutual benefit. The meeting, held at the chamber’s headquarters, emphasized shared interests and long-term strategic alignment.
Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomed the Belarusian diplomatic delegation, highlighting the significance of the meeting in advancing bilateral economic relations. He noted that ties between the UAE and Belarus are built on a solid foundation of shared vision, with the UAE serving as a key regional partner for Belarus. Al Owais affirmed the chamber’s commitment to transforming strong diplomatic relations into tangible business collaborations, opening new avenues for productive engagement. He also expressed readiness to support Belarusian companies interested in leveraging Sharjah’s favorable investment environment and called for intensified joint efforts to facilitate effective private-sector partnerships in line with the promising capabilities and opportunities available to both nations.
Igor Bely, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the UAE, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and affirmed his country’s strategic focus on deepening cooperation with the UAE across multiple domains. He observed that Emirati partners demonstrate a genuine interest in expanding economic engagement with Belarus and expressed optimism about strengthening coordination with the Sharjah Chamber to build sustainable business bridges.
The accompanying Belarusian delegation presented an overview of the country’s major export products, including industrial machinery and equipment, agricultural goods such as meat and wheat, as well as timber and furniture. A detailed commercial catalog was shared, covering vital sectors like pharmaceuticals, heavy mechanical and electrical equipment, vehicles and trucks, diverse chemicals and fertilizers, construction materials, textiles, synthetic fibers, leather, and a wide range of processed food items, dairy products, fresh and canned meats, and confectionery.
Both parties emphasized the importance of mutual business visits and investor exchanges to better understand each other’s industrial, agricultural, and service capabilities—particularly in agriculture, furniture, wood industries, food, and chemicals. The Belarusian side revealed plans to organize a combined commercial and tourism delegation visit to Sharjah next year, aiming to establish new trade and investment links with local enterprises.
The discussion also covered participation in international exhibitions hosted by both countries. The Belarusian Consul General highlighted the successful participation of a Belarusian jewelry company in the Sharjah Watch and Jewelry Exhibition, reflecting growing commercial interest in the emirate. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation by exchanging market intelligence and business opportunities, and to stay aligned with global economic trends to support stronger trade ties and increased presence at international trade fairs.
