At NVIDIA GTC Washington, D.C., which runs through Wednesday, October 29, representatives from the State of Utah, the City of Rancho Cordova, and Miles College are discussing recent partnerships with NVIDIA to expand AI training and technological innovation. n

Utah Establishes First State-Led AI Computing Hub n

The University of Utah has launched an AI computing initiative in collaboration with NVIDIA and HPE, significantly expanding its computational power through a $50 million investment combining public and private funding. n

This multiyear project will support research in healthcare and scientific fields, including studies on Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, genetics, and mental health. n

“With this initiative, we aim to build the AI infrastructure needed to fuel a strong ecosystem of developers, students and researchers across the state,” said Taylor Randall, president of the University of Utah. “This boost in compute availability will help drive research and entrepreneurship across scientific disciplines.” n

Utah joins a growing list of states—including California, Mississippi, and Oregon—partnering with NVIDIA to strengthen AI education and regional economic growth. n

Earlier this year, the state began equipping educators at universities, community colleges, and adult education programs with AI training and certification through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador Program, reinforcing a broader strategy to prepare both teachers and students with essential AI competencies. n

Rancho Cordova’s Strategy: Building a Local AI and Robotics Ecosystem n

Rancho Cordova, a California city of approximately 85,000 residents located near Sacramento, is working with NVIDIA and the Human Machine Collaboration Institute (HMCI) to enhance its AI capabilities through infrastructure development, workforce training, and student education. n

At this pivotal moment in AI advancement, the city aims to generate economic value by cultivating an AI and robotics ecosystem designed to attract technology firms. This includes ensuring reliable power supply and creating talent pipelines through partnerships with local colleges and universities. Future revenues from new AI enterprises will be reinvested into workforce development, research, and additional technological infrastructure. n

HMCI views the Rancho Cordova initiative as a model that can be replicated by other municipalities seeking to stimulate local economic development through technology. n

Expanding AI Education Through Academic Collaborations n

To prepare students for careers in an evolving technological landscape, NVIDIA is partnering with high schools, colleges, universities, and professional organizations across the U.S. to incorporate AI learning for individuals from diverse backgrounds. n

Miles College, a historically Black institution in Fairfield, Alabama, is integrating AI into academic curricula, faculty research, and community outreach through its collaboration with NVIDIA. n

The company is providing access to Deep Learning Institute resources, software frameworks, and development tools to enhance the college’s AI curriculum and support certification for both faculty and students in AI and accelerated computing. NVIDIA will also assist Miles College in identifying partnerships and resources to promote innovation and economic growth in surrounding areas. n

“We’re implementing AI fluency to be a core competency for every Miles College graduate—no matter what field they’re in—so that they’re prepared not only for success in their careers, but for leadership in their communities,” said Bobbie Knight, president of Miles College. “This initiative is about inspiring innovation and expanding opportunity, not just within the walls of Miles College but throughout the state—because when our students thrive, our entire region grows stronger.” n

AI is already being adopted campus-wide at Miles College, with nearly half of faculty incorporating AI into course design and learning modules, and around 60 percent of research projects utilizing AI tools. n

Knight previously launched the 2150 Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Growth, aimed at advancing technology in HBCUs and supporting entrepreneurs in the region. n

The presidents of the University of Utah and Miles College will join leaders from Coppin State University and Houston City College in a panel at GTC Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, showcasing how educational institutions are embedding AI into their programs to support regional economic goals and workforce readiness. n

California College of the Arts: This nonprofit art and design institution is integrating AI and GPU-accelerated computing into disciplines such as visual arts, architecture, and interactive media, while offering AI education through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute. n

Black Tech Street: Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this organization is collaborating with NVIDIA to promote AI innovation and train up to 10,000 individuals through partnerships with schools and community groups. n

Black Women in Artificial Intelligence: A three-year collaboration with NVIDIA aims to broaden access to AI education and professional networks for underrepresented innovators in the tech sector. n

StudyFetch: An AI-powered learning platform and member of NVIDIA’s Inception startup program, StudyFetch is launching NVIDIA Academy for high school students nationwide, beginning with the AI for All course. The rollout starts today with students from Friendship Public Charter School and Richard Wright Public Charter Schools in Washington, D.C. n
