Seoul – (DPA): Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Saturday in Gwangju, South Korea, that Shenzhen, a major city in southern China, will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November 2026. According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, this will mark the third time China has hosted the APEC leaders’ summit.
President Xi highlighted Shenzhen’s transformation from a small, underdeveloped fishing village into a modern international metropolis over recent decades, attributing its growth to its strategic location along the Pacific coast. He expressed optimism about gathering stakeholders in Shenzhen next year to jointly discuss regional development strategies and work toward a prosperous future for the Asia-Pacific region.
