Dr. Ali Abdel-Hakim El-Tahawy, an economic expert, stated that Egypt is entering a new phase of economic transformation aimed at strengthening its position as a regional hub for global investment and trade.
He emphasized in remarks to “Al-Watan” that success in this direction depends on three main drivers. The first is boosting domestic industries and transforming them into a robust production base capable of competing internationally, particularly in electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, and automotive components. This would allow Egypt to seize emerging opportunities within global supply chains.
The second driver involves advancing economic sustainability through investments in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen. Such initiatives could position Egypt as a key player in the future energy market while securing long-term capital inflows.
The third pillar centers on digitalization and the knowledge economy. Accelerating the digitization of government services, supporting fintech innovations, and encouraging startups would create a dynamic environment attractive to young investors and entrepreneurs.
El-Tahawy also noted that the coming years will see increased private-sector involvement in managing public assets, the development of international partnerships, integration of economic zones with ports, and improvements in transportation and logistics systems. These efforts are expected to reinforce Egypt’s status as both a regional and global commercial center.
