Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Hassan Al-Khatib, met with Peter Dellov, Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy and Industry, along with his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dian Katratshev, Bulgaria’s ambassador to Cairo. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral economic relations, trade cooperation, and mutual investment opportunities.
Al-Khatib emphasized that Egypt is currently opening its doors to business and investment, with the government actively working to create an attractive investment climate. He noted that significant steps have already been taken in this direction, positively influencing Egypt’s investment environment. These efforts are part of Egypt’s broader economic reform program, which aims to establish a supportive legislative framework, improve governance, offer incentives, and streamline cross-border trade and regulatory procedures to facilitate business setup and operations.
A key development highlighted during the discussion was the introduction of the “Golden License,” a comprehensive single approval for establishing, operating, and managing projects. So far, 49 companies across diverse sectors—including chemicals, engineering, pharmaceuticals, tourism, logistics, transportation, and electricity—have received this license.
The minister also expressed Egypt’s interest in deepening collaboration in strategic areas such as electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, clean energy, information technology, and digital transformation—sectors of mutual importance. He reaffirmed the strength of Egypt’s longstanding ties with Bulgaria and the shared commitment to advancing cooperation in these high-priority fields.
On his part, Dellov acknowledged Bulgaria’s appreciation for its solid historical relationship with Egypt. He emphasized Bulgaria’s interest in boosting economic cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, and expanding mutual investments. He pointed out that Bulgaria shares a similar economic vision with Egypt, particularly in enhancing competitiveness, advancing digital transformation, and supporting small and medium enterprises by improving their access to financing and markets.
