UAE and Senegal Sign 13 Agreements to Expand Economic Partnership

The United Arab Emirates and Senegal have formalized their economic collaboration through the signing of 13 memoranda of understanding during an official visit led by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, to the Senegalese capital. Al Zeyoudi met with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, and several senior ministers. n nBilateral discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, food security, and joint investment opportunities. The minister also held separate meetings with Senegal’s finance, health, digital economy, industry, agriculture, and infrastructure ministers. n nThe agreements span diverse fields including energy, logistics, mining, industrial development, digital technologies, construction, and healthcare, reflecting the breadth of the bilateral relationship. n nNon-oil trade between the UAE and Senegal reached approximately $933 million in the first nine months of 2025, marking a 21.1% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, highlighting strong growth potential. n nAl Zeyoudi stated that the UAE is committed to deepening ties with Senegal and the African continent, noting that such partnerships help drive sustainable economic growth and open new avenues for both nations. n nThis development aligns with the UAE’s Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) program, designed to expand trade and investment flows with fast-growing economies, particularly in Africa.
