Preparatory discussions for the 117th ministerial session of the Arab Economic and Social Council commenced today at the headquarters of the League of Arab States, with committee-level consultations scheduled for the coming Thursday. A senior officials’ meeting will be held on Wednesday, preceding the full ministerial session.
The agenda includes finalizing the economic and social dossier to be presented at the 35th ordinary summit of the Arab League, set to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Discussions will cover proposals for establishing an Arab network for social and solidarity economy, the regulations for the Arab Population Excellence Award, and ways to deepen regional and international cooperation in social and developmental fields.
Participants will also review reports and resolutions from relevant ministerial councils and specialized committees. Additional topics include supporting and upgrading centers under the Ministry of Social Development in the West Bank, Palestine; assessing the implementation of the Arab Observatory for Women’s Economic Empowerment; and advancing gender equality as part of sustainable development. The meetings will explore the formation of an Arab Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies, examine AI’s impact on employment, deliberate on the draft Arab Comprehensive Climate Change Adaptation Plan, and analyze the 2026 Arab Economic Report.

انطلقت اليوم الاجتماعات التحضيرية للدورة الوزارية الـ117 للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي، المقررة الخميس المقبل على مستوى اللجان، بمقر الأمانة العامة لـجامعة الدول العربية،ومن المقرر أن يعقد المجلس اجتماعاً على مستوى كبار المسؤولين يوم الأربعاء المقبل، يعقبه انعقاد الدورة الوزارية. n nتناقش الاجتماعات إعداد الملف الاقتصادي والاجتماعي الذي سيعرض على مجلس جامعة الدول العربية على مستوى القمة في دورته العادية الـ35، المقرر عقدها في المملكة العربية السعودية. n nوتتناول مقترح إحداث الشبكة العربية للاقتصاد الاجتماعي والتضامني، ولائحة جائزة التميز السكاني للمنطقة العربية، وتعزيز التعاون العربي والدولي في المجالات الاجتماعية والتنموية، إلى جانب استعراض تقارير وقرارات المجالس الوزارية واللجان المتخصصة ذات الصلة. n nوتبحث الاجتماعات أيضاً سبل دعم وتأهيل المراكز التابعة لوزارة التنمية الاجتماعية في الضفة الغربية بدولة فلسطين، واستعراض تقرير تنفيذ المرصد العربي لتنمية المرأة اقتصاديا، في إطار دعم تمكين المرأة وتعزيز دورها في التنمية المستدامة وتناقش إنشاء المجلس الوزاري العربي للذكاء الاصطناعي والتكنولوجيا البازغة، وأثر الذكاء الاصطناعي على العمل، ومشروع الخطة العربية الشاملة للتكيف مع التغيرات المناخية، والتقرير الاقتصادي العربي لعام 2026.
