Woman, 40, caught with explosives at Tesla dealership in Colorado, police say

A 40-year-old woman, identified as Lucy Grace Nelson, was arrested for possession of explosives at a Tesla dealership in Colorado. Authorities reported that Nelson faces multiple felony charges, including the use of explosives during a felony, criminal mischief, and attempted criminal acts. She was taken into custody late Monday evening following an extensive investigation that began in late January.

The Loveland Police Department stated that the arrest occurred after the dealership was vandalized multiple times, with incendiary devices found on-site. On the night of her arrest, Nelson allegedly returned to the dealership with additional incendiary devices and materials linked to vandalism. Detectives intervened before further damage could occur.

According to an affidavit, the dealership was targeted five times, starting with an incident on January 29 when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Cybertruck. Subsequent attacks involved spray-painted graffiti, including the word “Nazi,” and several more Molotov cocktails hurled at vehicles. A security guard hired by Tesla reported chasing off an individual attempting to spray paint the property on February 11.

Authorities noted that approximately 15 vehicles and the building itself were defaced with similar graffiti. A judge set a $100,000 cash surety bond for Nelson. The Loveland Police Department is collaborating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with federal charges likely to follow.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the LPD Tip Line or Larimer County Crime Stoppers. Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, has been under scrutiny recently due to unrelated controversies involving Musk.
