Woman accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at Colorado Tesla dealer

Federal prosecutors have charged Lucy Grace Nelson in connection with vandalism against a Colorado Tesla dealership, including throwing Molotov cocktails and spray painting “Nazi cars” on the building. Nelson appeared in federal court in Denver on a charge of malicious destruction of property. During the hearing, Magistrate Judge N. Reid Neureiter informed Nelson of her rights while her attorney, public defender Jennifer Beck, represented her. The federal government is pursuing the case due to the danger posed by the alleged use of incendiary devices. Nelson was previously arrested on state charges after allegedly returning to the dealership with additional incendiary devices but was released after posting bond. She is now in federal custody and faces a minimum of five years in prison if convicted. The case occurs amid concerns over Elon Musk’s influence on President Donald Trump’s administration and follows protests at other Tesla locations. According to the criminal complaint, Nelson is suspected of igniting Molotov cocktails near vehicles, causing fires that resulted in limited damage. The dealership reported between $5,000 and $20,000 in damages. Loveland police are also investigating potential involvement by others. At the time of her arrest, police found spray paint, gasoline, bottles, and cloth pieces in her car. — news from The Denver Post
