Google has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli cybersecurity startup Wiz for $32 billion in an all-cash deal. This acquisition, if completed, will surpass Google’s previous largest acquisition of Motorola Mobility in 2011 for $12.5 billion. The integration of Wiz into Google Cloud aims to enhance multicloud cybersecurity capabilities by developing a new-generation unified security platform. This platform will combine Wiz’s Cloud Security Platform with Google Security Operations and also incorporate technology from Mandiant, acquired by Google in 2022 for $5.4 billion. Wiz’s products will remain available across major cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Founded in 2020, Wiz is known as one of the fastest-growing startups, achieving $100 million in annual recurring revenue within 18 months. Analysts suggest this acquisition positions Google strategically against competitors like Microsoft and Amazon in the cloud security market. — news from Quartz
