Ben & Jerry’s accuses parent company of firing CEO over progressive activism

Ben & Jerry’s claims its parent company, Unilever, fired its CEO, David Stever, due to his support for the brand’s progressive social activism. Unilever allegedly breached the merger agreement by dismissing Stever without consulting Ben & Jerry’s independent board. The brand has accused Unilever of repeatedly interfering with its advocacy efforts, including preventing posts for Black History Month and supporting Palestinian rights. This legal dispute arises as Unilever plans to spin off Ben & Jerry’s and other ice cream brands by the end of 2025.
