FBI Investigates Surge in Tesla Protests and Vandalism

The FBI is investigating a series of vandalism incidents targeting Tesla stores and vehicles as protests against CEO Elon Musk. These acts include an attack on a Las Vegas facility that damaged five vehicles, described by Musk as “deranged.”
Dan Bongino, the newly sworn-in deputy director of the FBI, announced he is actively working on the Tesla incidents. Spencer Evans, head of the FBI’s Las Vegas field office, confirmed the investigation into the Las Vegas attack, emphasizing that such actions constitute federal crimes.
Elon Musk suggested on Fox News that larger forces are funding and coordinating the protests, echoing previous unsubstantiated claims blaming billionaires and Democratic-affiliated organizations. Musk labeled the attacks as “terrorism” and pointed fingers at figures like George Soros and Reid Hoffman without providing evidence.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the vandalism amounts to domestic terrorism, with several demonstrators already charged, some facing mandatory five-year sentences. Bondi vowed severe consequences for those involved, including those coordinating and funding the crimes.
President Trump, during a White House demonstration with Musk, labeled the vandals as domestic terrorists, pledging to stop them and warning of harsh legal repercussions.
While there is no federal charge for domestic terrorism, individuals suspected of such acts must be charged with other crimes under the U.S. federal criminal code.
Tesla protests have also occurred internationally, with incidents in France and Germany. A group called Tesla Takedown organizes peaceful protests, urging people to sell their Teslas and protest at dealerships.
