Kenworth’s W900 Truck to Be Discontinued After 65 Years

Kenworth has announced that production of the iconic W900 truck will cease in 2026, marking the end of the third longest-running mass-market vehicle still in production. Introduced in 1961, the diesel-powered truck has been a staple in trucking culture. The W900 features a long nose, chrome grill, square headlights, and a robust chrome bumper. Despite its cultural significance, the truck struggles with turning radius and fuel efficiency, consuming a gallon of fuel every six to eight miles. Kenworth plans to replace it with newer models offering more space, better technology, and improved fuel efficiency, partly driven by federal emissions targets. Certified pre-owned versions of the W900 are currently available for sale between $55,000 and $270,000. The decision aligns with industry trends towards autonomous driving and greener vehicles. — news from Daily Mail
