Forbes has released its annual list of the world’s wealthiest individuals, featuring 16 Houston-based billionaires. Among them is Kathy Britton of Perry Homes, ranked at 1,408 with an estimated net worth of $2.6 billion. Houston’s richest person remains Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Houston Rockets and CEO of Landry’s, who ranks as the world’s No. 220 billionaire with a net worth of $11.3 billion.
Other notable Houston billionaires include Richard Kinder of Kinder Morgan, the Duncan family from Enterprise Products Partners, and Jeffery Hildebrand of Hilcorp. The list also highlights Dan Friedkin, Janice McNair, and George Bishop, among others.
Forbes reports that there are 3,028 billionaires globally this year, up from 2,781 in the previous year. Collectively, their net worth exceeds $16 trillion, an increase of approximately $2 trillion from 2024.
