JetBlue in Talks for New Airline Partnership

JetBlue Airways is in discussions with multiple airlines for a potential partnership following the rejection of two previous deals, according to the carrier’s president, Marty St. George, at a Barclays industry conference. A federal judge ruled against JetBlue’s Northeast partnership with American Airlines in 2023, deeming it anticompetitive, and another judge blocked its acquisition of Spirit Airlines last year. JetBlue, celebrating its 25th anniversary, seeks partnerships to compete with larger airlines like Delta, American, and United. St. George emphasized that a partnership could enhance JetBlue’s loyalty program, acknowledging that its frequent flyer points are less competitive compared to the major U.S. carriers. He highlighted the potential benefits of expanding global earn and burn capabilities. JetBlue representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. — news from CNBC
