Flight Delays and Cancellations at Newark Liberty Due to Construction and Staffing Issues

Newark Liberty International Airport faced significant disruptions on Thursday and Friday due to ongoing construction and staffing shortages. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), over 400 flights were delayed on Thursday evening, with more than 200 canceled. By Friday morning, 127 flights were delayed, and 18 were canceled. A shortage of air traffic controllers and runway resurfacing work contributed to the delays. Travelers at Terminal B anxiously monitored departure and arrival boards, hoping their flights would not be canceled. Some passengers managed to rebook flights without additional fees. These delays follow a previous ground stop on Monday due to equipment issues.
