Tomatoes Recalled Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

An Indiana-based company, Ray & Mascari Inc., has voluntarily recalled tomatoes on the vine due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated after the supplier, Hanshaw & Capling Farms, detected possible salmonella presence in its facility. The affected tomatoes were packaged in 20-ounce plastic clamshell containers and sold in 11 states through Gordon Food Service Stores. No illnesses have been reported so far. Consumers are advised to discard the recalled tomatoes. Symptoms of salmonella infection include abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea, typically lasting 4 to 7 days. Vulnerable groups, such as young children and older adults, may require medical attention. \n— new from ABC News
