Tesla has officially introduced the refreshed Model Y Long Range Rear Wheel Drive (LR RWD) in the United States. This model was previously available as part of the Launch-Series in the Asia-Pacific and European markets but had not been offered in North America until now. The LR RWD variant is one of Tesla’s most affordable vehicles, starting at $44,990 (or $37,490 after the Federal EV Rebate).\n\nThe refreshed Model Y LR RWD offers a compelling alternative to the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version. It features a premium interior and audio options, providing the full experience of the updated Model Y. Additionally, it boasts a longer range and faster charging compared to the AWD model. However, it has slower acceleration and lacks the all-terrain capability of the AWD version. Despite these trade-offs, the LR RWD remains an attractive option due to its lower price and extended range.\n\nThe LR RWD is expected to begin shipping immediately in the United States. Tesla has not yet made the vehicle available in Mexico or Canada, likely due to tariff complications. Once these issues are resolved, Tesla plans to export the vehicles to these regions. With the arrival of the LR RWD variant, the only remaining version of the refreshed Model Y is the Performance model, which is anticipated to be released before the end of 2025.\n— new from Not a Tesla App
