Delta faces lawsuits over Toronto plane crash — after offering passengers $30K

Delta Air Lines is facing legal action following a crash in Toronto, despite offering $30,000 to each passenger aboard the flight. The first lawsuits have been filed, with more expected, according to CBS News. The compensation offer from Delta would amount to approximately $2.3 million if all 76 passengers on the Endeavor Air’s CRJ-900 aircraft accepted. However, one passenger from Texas has filed a lawsuit claiming he deserves more due to severe injuries and emotional distress suffered during the incident. Another lawsuit, filed on behalf of a woman from Minneapolis, alleges extreme bodily and mental injuries. Both lawsuits criticize the flight crew for failing to follow fundamental landing procedures. Under the Montreal Convention, passengers have two years to file claims, and compensation could exceed $200,000 if negligence is proven. Twenty-one people were hospitalized after the crash but have since been released. Delta stated that both pilots are FAA-certified, and the plane has been removed from the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are assisting in the investigation.— news from New York Post
