Wells Enterprises, the manufacturer behind popular ice cream brands such as Blue Bunny and Halo Top, has initiated a recall of nearly 18,000 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt. The recall is due to concerns that some batches may contain small pieces of plastic.
The voluntary recall was announced on April 25 by the Iowa-based company, as reported by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this week, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. Affected products include 22 flavors packaged in 3-gallon tubs, distributed to over 100 centers nationwide, including locations in Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, and Texas. The products have “use by” dates ranging from March 2026 to October 2026.
The FDA classified this recall as Class II, indicating that consuming the product could lead to temporary or reversible health issues. Wells Enterprises has yet to comment further on the matter following NBC News’ request for additional information.
