Federal Judge Halts Trump Administration’s Anti-DEI Grant Policies

A federal judge in California has issued an injunction preventing the Trump administration from enforcing policies that bar diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and recognition of transgender individuals in grant funding. Judge Jon Tigar ruled that these provisions infringe on constitutional rights by attempting to suppress protected speech. The decision allows affected organizations, including LGBTQ+ groups and health centers, to continue their work without conforming to the executive orders. The San Francisco Aids Foundation, among the plaintiffs, noted that the CDC had demanded the cessation of all DEI-related activities under a $1.3 million grant. The legal battle continues as government attorneys are expected to appeal.
