ComEd has announced a $500 financial aid initiative aimed at reducing electricity bill payments for residents in Chicago. This assistance is part of a $10 million fund designed to alleviate the impact of energy costs during the summer months, especially following recent price hikes in electricity bills. The subsidy will be available to low- and moderate-income customers, with additional $1,000 grants offered to nonprofit organizations. Starting July 7, eligible residents and organizations from northern Illinois can apply for assistance. ComEd is collaborating with Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago and the Salvation Army to manage and distribute the funds.
