US EPA Proposes Higher Biofuel Blending Volumes Through 2027

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed increasing biofuel blending volumes through 2027. The proposal includes 24.02 billion gallons in 2026 and 24.46 billion gallons in 2027, up from 22.33 billion gallons in 2025. This increase is partly driven by higher biomass-based diesel requirements. The EPA projects blending volumes of 5.61 billion gallons for 2026. Measures to discourage biofuel imports are also included. Industry reactions have been mixed, with the biofuel industry welcoming the move while some oil refiners expressing concerns about potential regulatory costs. The proposal reflects the administration’s support for the biofuels industry.
