Egypt Outlines Ambitious Economic Growth Targets for 2025/2026 Amid Regional Uncertainty

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation, addressed the general session of the House of Representatives, led by Counselor Dr. Hanafi Gabali, to discuss the proposed budget and economic development plan for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/2026. Al-Mashat emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering cooperation with the parliament to achieve national interests. The government has developed a flexible economic plan amidst evolving regional dynamics, aiming for a growth rate of 4.5%, up from the modest 2.4% recorded in 2023/2024. This target reflects efforts to sustain economic recovery while addressing uncertainties in the Middle East and globally. Additionally, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has established a “Crisis Committee” to monitor regional developments and ensure sector-wide preparedness.
