Mexican CCE Announces 700,000 Job Openings to Mitigate Repatriation Impact

Amid tensions over migration policies between Mexico and the United States, the Mexican Business Coordinating Council (CCE) announced 700,000 job openings to mitigate the economic and social impact of repatriations threatened by Donald Trump. In coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS), 381 companies have joined this initiative, offering jobs to individuals in mobility contexts, including Mexicans and foreigners. The program “México te abraza” aims to ensure a dignified return for repatriated Mexicans and provide reintegration opportunities through various supports and services. Jobs are mainly in the restaurant, hospitality, services, courier, and retail sectors. Depending on the applicants’ legal and migratory status, necessary paperwork for regularization can be processed. Foreigners and Mexicans in mobility contexts have the same labor rights as any Mexican citizen. Key rights include contracts, salary, work hours, bonuses, social security, and vacation.
