Advisor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, emphasized the council’s significant focus on women’s economic empowerment, which benefits not only women but also their families and society as a whole. During her meeting with Dr. Sherine Bader, founder and CEO of “Artooday,” Eman Jaweesh, the company’s general manager, and Shaimaa Qotb, the project manager, discussions centered on fostering cooperation to support and empower Egyptian women economically and culturally.
Amal Ammar highlighted the council’s efforts through the Women’s Skills Development Center and various programs, including the digital savings and lending project “Tahweesha” under the financial inclusion program, and initiatives addressing the economic drivers of illegal migration. These aim to enhance women’s economic capabilities and provide safe and sustainable alternatives for them and their families. She stressed that economic empowerment can protect families from the adverse effects of illegal migration and early marriage, emphasizing the need for education and changing misconceptions within society.
Dr. Sherine Bader noted that art serves as a universal language transcending linguistic and cultural barriers. She highlighted Artooday’s role in empowering women economically by supporting and marketing the works of Egyptian and Arab female artists, turning their artistic hobbies into sustainable income sources. The meeting reviewed successful models of women who transformed their art into international brands, achieving economic independence. Both parties agreed to enhance future cooperation and develop a joint action plan to support creative women by providing platforms to showcase and market their work, contributing to the state’s vision of empowering women in various fields.
