Site of the former Sears in Middleburg Heights
Demolition of the former Sears building in Middleburg Heights is expected to be completed by early August. Filling the 150,000-square-foot basement, which requires more than 100,000 cubic yards of clean fill dirt, is projected to finish by the end of October.

Construction on the new Meijer store in Middleburg Heights is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026. The supercenter will include over 70,000 square feet of general merchandise and a full grocery selection, offering a comprehensive shopping experience. Plans also feature a 20,000-square-foot garden center and an on-site Meijer Express with fuel and convenience items. This development is expected to create over 300 new jobs, contributing to the city’s growth.
MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Work continues on the transformation of the Southland area, with demolition of the former Burlington building scheduled to start in August 2025 and expected to be completed by November of the same year. This will pave the way for a new mixed-use development. More updates will follow in the coming months.

Honda of Middleburg Heights
The newly built 64,000-square-foot Honda dealership at 7700 Pearl Road is now operational, employing over 100 people. The facility includes a spacious showroom and a state-of-the-art service center.
Polaris Career Center in Middleburg Heights
Construction on the 28,000-square-foot addition to Polaris Career Center is progressing on schedule. The expansion will provide lab and classroom space for the new Engineering, Robotics and Automation (ERA) Program. The State of Ohio has awarded Polaris an $11.6 million grant for this project. The Career Center plays a vital role in offering quality training and credentials for students and adult learners.

Dairy Deli 2.0
Construction on the new Dairy Deli at the corner of Engle and Sheldon Roads is nearing completion. The business aims to reopen in early August, with site improvements enhancing the entrance to Middleburg Heights.
The 81-room, four-story Tru Hotel by Hilton at 17500 Rosbough Drive is set to open in August. Designed for professionals and business travelers, the hotel emphasizes social interaction and a modern, tech-forward experience. It features shared spaces and unique amenities.

Planet Fitness
An 18,000-square-foot Planet Fitness is under construction in a portion of the former movie theater building at Middleburg Towne Square. The fitness center will provide expanded options for local residents.
Potbelly Sandwich Works will open in August at 6842 Pearl Road. The menu includes a variety of hot sandwiches, soups, shakes, smoothies, and snacks.
