Economist Mohamed Reda emphasized that Egypt’s National Economic Development Narrative marks the first comprehensive government document outlining a distinct and holistic approach to economic reform. He noted this strategy coincides with a gradual improvement in the country’s economic conditions, including the revival of several previously stalled industrial facilities in recent months.
During his appearance on the program “Masaa DMC” broadcast on DMC channel, Reda explained that the framework aims to achieve a 7% growth rate, expand export volumes, and reduce inflation to approximately 7% within the coming year. He stressed that the private sector stands as the central focus of this reform agenda.
Reda added that Egypt has undergone a broad reform process recently, incorporating fiscal incentives and a revised tax system. He highlighted that the state’s role should be limited to regulation and facilitation, while launching initiatives and strategic plans to strengthen the industrial sector.
Among the key elements of the National Narrative is the establishment of a unified fee structure and the acceleration of customs clearance procedures, which previously took around 14 days, now expected to be completed within four to five days, with a future goal of reducing it to just one day. These measures are anticipated to boost investor confidence and enhance the private sector’s contribution to the national economy.
