Dr. Ashraf El-Biomy, Professor of Economics and Finance at Cairo University, confirmed that remittances from Egyptians working abroad have reached $30 billion, a level not seen since the coronavirus crisis.
He added that economic reform measures have contributed to boosting confidence in the Egyptian economy and attracting investments. The government consistently works to create job opportunities for Egyptians abroad, which in turn helps increase financial remittances.
El-Biomy noted that the economic returns from increased remittances are significant, helping to stabilize the exchange rate of the Egyptian pound against the dollar, increasing foreign currency reserves, and ensuring funding for development projects in Egypt.
He explained that the rise in remittances also has political implications, reinforcing political stability, supporting the national economy, and enhancing citizens’ confidence in ongoing economic reforms.
