Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa submitted an urgent economic bill to the National Assembly on June 14. The proposed Organic Law for the Recovery of Protected Areas and Promotion of Local Development aims to restore natural zones affected by illegal activities and armed groups. The initiative combines environmental protection with economic growth by enabling regulated tourism, scientific research, and service provision. Before reaching the plenary session, the proposal must be reviewed by the Legislative Administrative Council (CAL) and referred to the appropriate committee. The government believes this regulation will return citizens’ access to their natural heritage while strengthening security, creating jobs, diversifying the economy, and promoting effective state presence in strategic areas.
