He noted Africa’s growing role in global shifts, particularly in digital technology and renewable energy, and emphasized the association’s mission to create an effective dialogue platform and promote tangible joint investments. He described the conference as a political and economic forum for decision-makers to address challenges in manufacturing, exports, and intra-continental financing. n nDr. Naglaa Nazeh, Advisor to the Central Bank Governor and Head of African Cooperation, delivered a comprehensive lecture covering several key areas. She highlighted that the AfCFTA became operational in 2021 as a bold step toward regional integration. While Africa’s market exceeds USD 3 trillion, intra-African trade remains below 17%, compared to around 60% in Europe, underscoring the need for accelerated economic integration. n nShe also addressed logistical challenges, noting that container transport between African countries remains costly compared to global markets. She called for developing transport corridors, improving investment environments, and advancing customs digitization. n nNazeh outlined existing trade corridors and shipping routes available to Egyptian exporters accessing African markets, as well as opportunities offered by regional blocs like COMESA in supporting joint manufacturing and free trade. n nShe emphasized the importance of e-commerce and digital platforms in promoting “Made in Africa” products and boosting local industry competitiveness, stating that digital transformation is now vital to the continent’s trade future. n nOn financial integration, she explained mechanisms to strengthen African financial capacity and facilitate cross-border payments through innovative tools and agreements such as REPPs, in partnership with Egyptian banks including the National Bank of Egypt, Bank of Cairo, CIB, and Banque Misr, working with their African counterparts. n nIndustry and trade representatives participated alongside Senghor University students, who presented specialized insights on enhancing technical and managerial capabilities needed to manage continental free trade. n nAt the closing session, Magdy Fanous expressed appreciation to the Central Bank of Egypt under the leadership of Acting Governor Hassan Abdullah and to Dr. Naglaa Nazeh for their strong support in advancing Egypt-Africa economic cooperation, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision of expanding African partnerships. n
