Dr. Rania El-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, outlined key economic targets under Egypt’s National Development Narrative, aiming to achieve a 7% economic growth rate by 2030, up from the projected 4.5% in the current 2025/2026 fiscal year plan. The strategy emphasizes boosting total investments to 18% of GDP by 2030, compared to 15.2% in the ongoing fiscal period.
The framework also seeks to increase private sector investment share of total investments to 66% by the end of the decade, rising from 60% currently. Additionally, private investment as a percentage of GDP is expected to grow from 9.1% to 11.9%. The private sector’s contribution to GDP is targeted to reach 82% by 2030, reflecting a strategic shift toward greater private involvement in economic activity.
Public green investments are projected to account for 70–75% of total public investment by 2030, up from 50% in the current fiscal plan. The initiative also aims to raise annual job creation from 900,000 in the current year to 1.5 million by 2030. These goals were presented during the launch event of the National Development Narrative, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
The narrative is designed to align government programs with Egypt’s Vision 2030, reinforcing economic reforms and leveraging recent infrastructure advancements to support industrialization and attract investment. It redefines the state’s role to enhance national competitiveness and foster a more dynamic private sector.
