Egypt and Norway Deepen Economic Cooperation: Minister Rania El-Mashat Advances Strategic Partnerships

Dr. Rania El-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Asmund Eikenes, Norway’s Minister of International Development, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address shared priorities. The meeting took place during Egypt’s participation in the Fourth G20 Working Group Meeting on Development, followed by a ministerial session chaired by South Africa in July 2025. n nEl-Mashat highlighted ongoing collaboration between Egypt and Norway in the fields of green hydrogen and renewable energy, including joint projects such as green ammonia and green methanol production. She emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in these areas to foster an attractive investment environment. n nDiscussions also focused on cooperation with the Norwegian company Scatec, which represents a significant step toward advancing Egypt’s green transition. El-Mashat reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting international partnerships and investing in environmentally sustainable projects. n nEgypt has introduced incentives to attract Norwegian investments, particularly in energy and infrastructure sectors, while outlining available investment opportunities aimed at boosting economic growth and reinforcing bilateral ties.
