Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the launch event for Egypt’s “National Narrative for Economic Development: Policies Supporting Growth and Employment” held in the New Administrative Capital on Sunday. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, outlines a comprehensive framework aimed at aligning national economic strategies with Vision 2030 and current global and regional dynamics.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, presented the narrative, which is structured around five core pillars: macroeconomic stability, foreign direct investment (FDI), industrial development and foreign trade, labor market efficiency and flexibility, and regional planning to localize economic development. The document was developed in coordination with multiple government ministries and relevant institutions to ensure policy coherence.
The narrative functions as both an economic reform program and a strategic communication tool, highlighting structural reforms and policies designed to stimulate growth, attract investment, and emphasize promising economic opportunities. It translates structural reform priorities into a set of measurable quantitative targets within a defined macroeconomic framework, aiming to achieve transformation by 2030.
A key objective is shifting toward an export-oriented economic model centered on tradable sectors, while redefining the state’s role to enhance competitiveness and encourage greater private sector participation. The framework also integrates existing strategies related to FDI, industrial development, and job creation.
The Cabinet announced that the narrative will be opened for public consultation over the next two months, with specialized sessions to be held involving experts and stakeholders to foster constructive societal dialogue on its various components.
Following the event, the Prime Minister witnessed the signing of an agreement to develop 10 million square meters in the Red Sea region at the Cabinet’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
