Economist and international expert Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin emphasized in an interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm that Egypt requires a comprehensive national economic strategy, one that does not simply repackage outdated policies with modern rhetoric.
He argued that sustainable economic progress demands innovative frameworks tailored to current realities, rather than relying on familiar but ineffective approaches. Mohieldin stressed the importance of structural reforms, improved governance, and inclusive growth models to address deep-rooted challenges such as unemployment, inflation, and fiscal imbalances.
According to him, successful economic transformation hinges on coordinated efforts across government institutions, private sector engagement, and transparent policy implementation. He also highlighted the need for long-term planning that prioritizes human capital development and technological advancement.
Mohieldin warned against short-term fixes that may offer temporary relief but fail to resolve systemic issues. Instead, he called for a bold, forward-looking agenda that fosters resilience and adaptability in Egypt’s economy.
