Dr. Rania El-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, announced that Egypt’s National Development Narrative aims to elevate the country’s economic growth rate to 7% by 2030, up from the targeted 4.5% in the current 2025/2026 fiscal year. The plan includes raising total investments to 18% of GDP by 2030, compared to 15.2% in the present fiscal framework.
The initiative, introduced during the launch of the National Development Narrative under Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly’s patronage, is structured to align government policies with Egypt Vision 2030. It emphasizes economic reform continuity by focusing on high-productivity sectors with strong export potential. The strategy leverages recent national infrastructure achievements as a foundation for industrial expansion and investment attraction.
A central objective is redefining the state’s economic role to enhance competitiveness and expand private sector engagement. The narrative envisions the private sector as the primary engine of growth and employment. It sets a target for private investment to constitute 66% of total investment by 2030, up from 60%, and to reach 11.9% of GDP, rising from 9.1%. The private sector’s share of GDP is projected to climb to 82% by the end of the decade.
These measures are part of a broader effort to create a more resilient and diversified economy, capable of generating 1.5 million jobs annually by 2030, up from 900,000 in the current fiscal plan.
