Experts Highlight China-Africa Cooperation as a Strong Driver for the Global Economy

Experts from Egypt have emphasized the potential of China and Africa to inject significant momentum into the global economy and enhance cooperation among Global South nations. This comes in light of the ministerial meeting of coordinators implementing follow-up measures for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), according to Xinhua News Agency. \n\nThe meeting discussed ways to fully implement the outcomes achieved during the Beijing Summit of FOCAC. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of FOCAC, a distinctive mechanism for cooperation between the two sides. Dr. Yosri El Sharkawi, President of the Egyptian African Businessmen Association, highlighted the forum’s role in strengthening cooperation between China and African countries across various fields, particularly in the economic sector, which is central to achieving comprehensive development. \n\nEl Sharkawi stated that China and Africa together could form a global economic powerhouse, serving as a cornerstone for leading the global economy in the coming phase. He noted that China can enhance its relations with Africa through several key areas, including infrastructure projects such as ports, airports, roads, and energy, fostering effective joint cooperation. \n\nDr. Kareem El Omda, an economic expert and lecturer at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, pointed out that Sino-African relations have gained significant momentum over the past two decades, accelerating in recent years. He emphasized that China consistently affirms its role as a crucial economic and trade partner for African nations through actions rather than empty diplomatic slogans. \n\nAbu Bakr El Deeb, advisor at the Arab Center for Research and Studies in Cairo, highlighted the continuous vitality of Sino-African cooperation, which includes infrastructure development, increased trade volumes, technology transfer, and expanded education and training programs. This cooperation reflects a long-term commitment to addressing global challenges and providing balanced developmental opportunities. \n\nThe collaboration also strengthens unity among Global South nations, presenting a new model of international relations based on solidarity and equity.
