A survey conducted across 29 countries reveals widespread concern about the global impact of President Trump’s economic policies. On average, 61% of respondents believe these policies will negatively affect the global economy, while 58% think they will harm their own country’s economy. Only 18% view the policies as beneficial for global trade.
In the U.S., opinions are divided along political lines. Six in ten Republicans believe Trump’s policies will positively impact their finances, compared to just 15% of Democrats. Similarly, 74% of Republicans think the policies will benefit the U.S. economy, versus 16% of Democrats. Concerns are highest in South Korea and Canada, where 79% and 75%, respectively, see negative effects.
The survey also highlights worries about the impact on U.S. relations with other nations. In Canada, 81% believe Trump’s policies will harm the bilateral relationship. Conversely, India and Argentina view the policies more positively. The survey was conducted by Ipsos between April 25 and May 9, 2025, involving 22,734 adults globally.
