The Government of North Macedonia has announced that the country is among the top five fastest-growing economies in Europe, with a GDP growth rate of 3.2% in the first quarter of 2025, according to data from the State Statistical Office. This growth places North Macedonia just behind Ireland, Denmark, and Poland in terms of economic expansion. The government attributes this success to its effective economic policies, which have resulted in a growth rate three times higher than the previous year. Key sectors driving this growth include construction, professional, scientific, and technical activities, administrative services, and information and communications. Household consumption, including non-profit institutions serving households, increased by 7.1% in nominal terms in the first quarter of 2025, accounting for 69.0% of the GDP structure. The government emphasized that the economy is now in a phase of recovery after years of stagnation.
