Mexican Government Offers Economic Support Programs for Citizens Aged 60 and Above

The Mexican government has introduced several social welfare programs aimed at supporting citizens aged 60 and above. Among these initiatives, the “Pensión Mujeres Bienestar” provides financial assistance to women aged 60 to 64, while the “Pensión Hombres Bienestar” extends similar benefits to men in the same age group residing in Mexico City. Both programs offer a bimonthly stipend of 3,000 pesos to eligible beneficiaries. The rollout of these programs will be gradual, starting with women aged 63 and 64 in 2025, with full implementation expected by August of the same year. In municipalities predominantly inhabited by indigenous or Afro-Mexican populations, all eligible women within this age range have been receiving benefits since January 2025. To register, applicants must visit designated modules between 10:00 and 16:00 hours or request a home visit through a specific online link. Required documents include a valid ID, recent CURP, legible birth certificate, proof of address no older than six months, and a contact phone number. Eligibility criteria include being aged 60 to 64, holding Mexican nationality by birth or naturalization, and residing in Mexico. The “Pensión Hombres Bienestar” program in Mexico City specifically targets men aged 63 to 64 years and 10 months at the time of application. Documentation required includes an official ID with photo, proof of address, birth certificate (if the birth date is not visible on the ID), CURP, and an application form provided by the Secretaría de Bienestar (SEBIEN). All documents must be submitted as photocopies along with the originals for verification. These programs aim to strengthen social policies and promote the well-being of Mexico’s senior citizens.
