Northern California Businesses Gear Up for Economic Boost from FIFA World Cup 2026

The Bay Area is preparing to welcome millions of soccer fans for the FIFA World Cup in 2026. “Our staff is already excited, we’re getting motivated, and it’s going to be fun with matches every day,” said Jordan Trigg, owner of Jack’s sports bar in San Jose. This sports bar, which attracts hundreds of soccer enthusiasts, is not only ready to cheer every goal but also anticipates a significant economic boost. With each match, Jack’s expects a surge of customers eager to enjoy the tournament. Meanwhile, in San Francisco’s Mission District, Taquería El Farolito hopes to sell more of its traditional burritos and tacos. “It’s a global event, so it will draw a lot of attention. People attending matches will want to explore the area,” said Santiago López, general manager of El Farolito. During previous World Cups, El Farolito was a popular gathering spot for soccer fans, regardless of the hour. “El Farolito Bar was open in the early morning, and it was full during 7:00 a.m. matches, showing how passionate the Bay Area is about soccer,” Santiago added. The tournament is expected to generate between $480 million and $630 million in revenue for the region, according to the Bay Area Host Committee. These sporting events will bring excitement, goals, and great food while representing a significant economic opportunity for local businesses in the Bay Area.
