Panama took a significant step in its international cooperation agenda with a meeting between Commerce Minister Julio Moltó and the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Pamela Coke-Hamilton. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting inclusive economic development, as reported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MICI). Held at the ITC headquarters in Geneva, the meeting highlighted Panama’s role as a strategic platform for regional connectivity and its commitment to economic integration and sustainable development. The ITC, a joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), supports micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in accessing global markets. During the meeting, Minister Moltó expressed Panama’s interest in actively participating in ITC-led regional forums and contributing to economic priorities for Latin America and the Caribbean. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and MSME competitiveness. Technical teams from MICI, ITC, and Panama’s Permanent Mission to the WTO will collaborate on projects in areas like digital trade, sustainability, and business empowerment.
