Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the “Investopia” platform, met with ministers from Cyprus and Greece during the first “Investopia – Mediterranean” summit held in Cyprus. The discussions focused on enhancing economic and investment ties and fostering cooperation in seven areas: the new economy, innovation, digital infrastructure, food security, renewable energy, smart tourism technology, and sustainable environmental practices.
Bin Touq highlighted the UAE’s efforts to diversify its economy, increase non-oil sector contributions to GDP, and transition to a knowledge- and technology-driven economic model. He also discussed the goals of the “We Are the UAE 2031” vision, which aims to establish the UAE as a global hub for business, investment, and the new economy.
Meetings were held with key figures such as Georgios Papanastasiou, Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, and Constantinos Kombos, Cyprus’ Foreign Minister, to explore expanding partnerships and fostering sustainable growth. Discussions also covered tourism cooperation, including strategies to enhance sustainable and green tourism projects.
The collaboration reflects the strong economic partnership between the UAE and these nations, with notable growth in tourism and air travel. For instance, Greek tourists visiting the UAE increased by 25% in 2024 compared to 2023.
