Westfield Names New Engineering and Economic Development Directors to Drive Growth

The City of Westfield has announced the appointment of Michael Pearce as Director of Engineering and Chuck Haberman as Director of Economic Development, effective January 1 and January 12, 2026, respectively. These leadership changes are part of ongoing organizational enhancements aimed at supporting urban expansion, infrastructure modernization, and strategic planning initiatives.

Mayor Scott Willis emphasized the importance of experienced leadership amid the city’s growth trajectory, stating that individuals like Pearce and Haberman bring integrity and a strong dedication to public service. Their roles are expected to streamline decision-making and improve service delivery for residents and local businesses.

Michael Pearce has been with Westfield for over six years and holds a civil engineering degree from Purdue University, along with a Professional Engineer (PE) license. His career began in Naperville, Illinois, where he worked as a project engineer until 2017. After a brief stint at American Structurepoint, he returned to Westfield and has served as City Engineer since 2022. In that capacity, he has overseen the Capital Improvement Plan, managed stormwater systems, directed asset management efforts, and coordinated infrastructure upgrades tied to private developments.

Chuck Haberman joins from the City of Noblesville, where he served as Assistant Director of Economic Development. Before transitioning into economic development in 2020, he led human resources and talent development teams in construction and spent eight years as an engineer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Haberman holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources Management from Purdue and a master’s in Organization Development and Change Management from Penn State. He is also a Certified Economic Developer through the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.

He is actively involved in community organizations, serving as Chairman of the Ivy Tech Hamilton County Campus Board of Trustees, Treasurer for Invest Hamilton County, and a member of the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Committee.
