BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhua) — An article by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on guiding economic and social development through medium- and long-term planning will be published on Monday. The article, authored by Xi who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, will appear in the 12th issue of Qiushi, a flagship publication of the CPC Central Committee.
The article compiles key statements made by Xi between October 2015 and April 2025. It highlights that the scientific formulation and consistent implementation of five-year plans are crucial to the CPC’s governance strategy. The article emphasizes understanding global development trends, accurately capturing public aspirations, and exploring economic and social development laws when formulating policies.
Given that five-year plans encompass all aspects of economic and social development and are closely tied to people’s lives, the article stresses integrating high-level design with public input, incorporating societal expectations, public wisdom, professional opinions, and grassroots experiences. For the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), the article underscores the importance of understanding national needs, focusing on key factors for building a strong country, and setting appropriate goals and tasks.
